Our panelists discuss what the changing US landscape of abortion means for the health of those dependent on US donor funding for sexual and reproductive health abroad.

A conversation on the impact of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and the introduction of early abortion bans in the South. Our panelists Sara Redd, PhD, MPH and Nisha Verma, MD, MPH, FACOG will discuss what the changing state landscape for abortion for health for people in Georgia, in the Southern US, and the entire US. They will also touch on steps public health professionals can take to ensure access to reproductive healthcare. Subasri Narasimhan, Women in Global Health Georgia Advocacy Chair, will moderate the event.

Storytelling Salon

WGH Georgia’s focus on women in the health workforce through storytelling feeds directly into WGH’s strategy around mobilizing and connecting individuals by strengthening chapter formation, coalescing WGH members and allies around shared goals, and growing WGH Georgia’s digital following to promote gender transformative practices.  

Our event included facilitation from Nandini Oomman of the Storytelling Salon and Dazon Diallo, an Atlanta global health leader and President of SisterLove, the first women’s HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Justice organization in the southeastern United States.  Dr. Oomman’s services were essential in helping the WGH Georgia USA Chapter share Dr. Diallo’s experiences and created community around this key member of our global health workforce.
